Bret Snyder has chaired the board of W.L. Gore & Associates, Inc. since 2016 and recently became the President/CEO in October 2020.

Bret joined the board in 2011, and serves on the Audit & Finance and Nominating & Governance Committees. Since becoming Chair in 2016, he has led the board through a CEO succession. Outside of the Board, Bret worked at Gore as a full-time Associate from 2008 to 2016 in various roles in research and development, as well as several special projects in product strategy, enterprise strategy, litigation and risk. Bret also served from 2011 to 2016 as one of the trustees for a Gore retirement benefits plan. Prior to that, Bret had both business and research and development roles at Rohm and Haas Company from 1998 to 2005. Bret holds two patents and authored six technical publications. Bret earned his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Brown University and a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Washington. He is the grandson of company founders Bill and Vieve Gore.
Bret is an NACD Governance Fellow, member of the Advisory Board of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance at the University of Delaware and an active member in the Family Business Network. Bret is also engaged in the Gore Family Stewards group, serving on its governing committee since 2008.
Bret resides in Delaware with his wife and four children. Interests include exercising, hiking, and reading.
